Experimenting with Red Bull, electricity and Volcanoes!

Ready for action!
Jenna, or should I say Professor Milky Way, was the first in our  'science lab' this morning.

She showed us what happens when you mix Red Bull and milk. An advisory should be issued with all cans...never drink the two together! We saw first hand how they curdle and froth, what they would do when they are inside your stomach...goodness knows!

First the milk, low fat in the one glass and
full cream in the other.

See how it is already frothing!

It took seconds to build
up to this curdled froth...
anyone for a Red Bull milkshake?

Next was Neha. She showed us how metal is a conductor of electricity. She used a R5 coin, padlock and a hairclip. We discovered that wood, plastic and rubber were not.
It lead to an interesting discussion on the dangers of electricity.

She even tried to see if I was a conductor...no such luck, she caught me when I was in a good mood!!

Demonstrating how to set
up everything.

Proving that a R5 coin can conduct
electricity.

Lastly, Rushil demonstrated how to make a volcano. He showed us step by step how to build it and then to the delight of the class, made it erupt by mixing bicarb and vinegar. He added some red food colouring for the effect.

In goes the food colouring.

Bicarb next.

The eruption elicited a number
of oohs and aahs!
Thank you children, all three of you did a fantastic job!
