Orals - Dhruv and Jasmine

Dhruv and Jasmine were first on the list today and we couldn't wait to see what their experiments would be about.

Dhruv - the science star - showed us all how he could blow up a balloon with out using his mouth. He showed us how mentoes react in coke. He was so well prepared and had a fabulous introduction.

Jasmine made a Fizz inflator - she showed us how bicarb reacts when it is mixed with vinegar. She also blew up a balloon using the gases caused when the two substances reacted. She was well prepared and confidently enlisted the help of her classmates.

The great dart contest

Miss P, had paper jet flying competitions with her class during science to teach them about flight. 

We just had to do that as well. I showed them how to paper fold a specific one, and then they could fold one of their own. it was interesting to see which ones flew the furthest, it had many children trying to modify their designs so could get better results.

Shopkeeper time.

The boys were first - they were very efficient shopkeepers and easily gave
out change.

Sizotha, Jasmine and Kesha were next and just loved the experience.

There is nothing like real life experiences to help children learn. Shopkeeper is a perfect example of this. It is such an exciting time both shopkeeper and customers.

Pandemonium at school

This term we are reading a book by Jeremy strong, called Pandemonium at school. 

Ironically the week we started the children had a real experience of pandemonium when we had that serious wind and rain and flooding at school!

We get to meet Miss pandemonium, a relief teacher who chaotically refuses to obey the rules of Dullandon school. She just wont follow the timetable that the head Mr.Shrapnell had spent ages setting up.

My class had an opportunity to fill in our school timetable. it gave us a chance to look at how long each lesson was, reason why certain lessons have to be at a particular time etc.

Miss p, as she is fondly known, has no regard for the timetable which drives Mr Shrapnell crazy. My class made comic style conversations between them and the children. Each child had an opportunity to explain and read what they had done to the class. We all had a good giggle.

Sleepover pictures

the  sleepover in our burrow was a great success. We all had fun, and I dont think that one of my children missed home.
