As it was Valentines day on the 14th, Gill and I knew that we had to choose a book as a our class reader that was in keeping with this theme! We chose this delightful book by Sam Mc Bratney...
We had so many ideas that we thought that it would be wonderful to share them with our parents. This would give them an idea of the types of things their children learnt at school. So they were invited for a Valentines Surprise. Our classes were very excited by the prospect of their parents visiting them at school.
Mrs Carini, helped us by teaching the children the song 'Skinnymarinki dinkidink' which is a cute song about love.

During the week we made some cards, where we got the children to make footprints out of paint, which we turned into hearts and they wrote the slogan.. We love you from the bottom of our hearts to the soles of our feet!
Valentines day arrived, what a beautiful day it was, although a tad too hot! The whole school was dressed in red and white! We even had a chance to present a small bit of "Valentines surprise" to the rest of the school.

At 11:45 our mums and even some dads arrived, what a lovely time it was. They were suitably impressed by what their children presented, and both Gill and I were proud of them as well.

We ended the morning with this poem
Today is the day for love to shine
And many will ask, “Will you be mine?”
Although we are small, we have love to share
With all you mums and dads sitting over there
We love you all, from the soles of our feet
Way, way up to where the stars meet
So as we throw our beautiful jets
Catch them quick…..
All our love you will get!
The part they couldnt wait for..throwing the jets! |
