A creeping and a peeping we must go!

The Peepers

To highlight our wow words for the week from our book Bad Luck Duck, Gill and I divided our classes into groups. The peepers, creepers, sneakers and spyers.

Our aim was not only to increase their vocabulary, but to also encourage teamwork. Each day a group had an opportunity to creep up and spy on the grade ones without getting caught. If they managed to do this the group could post a 'got you' sign on their door. However if they got caught, the teacher gave them it to them!

They had great fun, and could easily understand the meaning of creeping and peeping.

On Friday, we incorporated these words in some creative writing. The children had to think of something the fox could smell behind a door. Gill and I got our classes together and pooled our ideas about the different things he would be able to smell like..garbage, flowers, a braai, baking etc we then got the children to think of words to describe these..smoky, disgusting, meaty, potent, delicious and many more. The final results are up on the back wall.. the classroom is beginning to look so colourful and bright.
