Soccer World Cup

As it was the start of the World Cup this week, Gill and I organised a special assembly where each class drew the country that they would be supporting. My class drew Croatia and Argentina.....not much chance of a winning country, but you never know!

It was great for us to learn a number of interesting facts about the world cup....

The children found this so amusing!

In an attempt to get the children to understand how the actual knock out tournament works, Gill and divided our classes into mixed groups. Each day we play a round of a 'draw a soccer man' dice game. We have had the preliminaries and tomorrow the quarter finals, on Friday the champions will be crowned! With the help of Miss van den Berg, we will be having a mini world cup tournament of Friday. The entire Junior Primary phase has been divided into mixed teams...so watch this space for some news and photos!
