As Gill and I knew that the last week in February was Frog Awareness Week, we planned our class reader and activities around this theme.
Josh brought an article from the daily News that explained all about frog awareness week and Leap Frog Day. Who would have thought that frogs, especially the small tree frogs are becoming an endangered species.
His mom and dad are very knowledgeable on permiculture and have created a garden that supports this ideology.
Gill arranged for us to visit their home on Friday, they very kindly agreed to host 38 excited children, so off we set. We did not let on where we were going, so both Gill and I could not wait to see Conners reaction when we arrived at his home! We were not disappointed at all! He was so excited, he said "I am at home, but at school...so cool!"
Jo and her husband started off by explaining the term Biodiversity...a difficult concept to explain to 7 year olds!
Then it was time to look for the tadpoles and frogs... everyone was so excited!
