THRASS fun

On Friday after learning the first half of the vowel THRASS chart we decided to devise some fun activities based on what we had learnt.

We mixed our classes and then divided them into groups.

The first activity was based on the word tape - we measured each child to see how tall they were. We will look later in the year to see how much they have grown.

The second activity was based around the tray - it was a memory game, all items containing various A sounds were placed on the tray. The children had to identify what item was removed each round.

The third activity was a matching memory game - words and pictures with the 'ai' as in snail were turned upside down. Each child had a turn to try and remember where each card was to make pairs. The winner had their hair sprayed with colour - they loved this part!

The fourth activity was to make as many small words containing the 'a' in ant as they could. The words were written in the body parts of ants and made into a chart.

The last activity was inspired by the word square - children had to build 3D shapes using building blocks.

It was another, fun filled learning experience.
