Outing to Tala

We had such a lovely day today when we paid a visit to Tala.

Before we went on the game drive my class was divided into two. The boys went to the 'snake man' and the girls to the 'bird man', and then we swapped. It was so interesting and we learnt a lot.

Jaycee our wonderful ranger, drove us around and told us all about the various game. She had such a wonderful way of explaining things.

The only disappointment of the day, was that we did not have time for a swim!

Demonstrating thee stick used to
catch venomous snakes.

The snake was very cold and
kept trying to find a patch of sun

the closest Esihle would get!

I was so proud of Sam when he plucked up
the courage to touch the snake.

Weighing the bird before taking it out the bag.

This Drongo was not a happy
chappy!

Measuring its wing to see if it is
a male or female.

counting the wings

If you hold the bird like this it is not able to bite.

Showing how the bird gets ringed.

Vyal did not quite hold this bird tight
enough and it pecked him! Which gave it
a chance to escape!

Swara was so nervous!

But...she did it!

Zeta was so impressed that
her dad was brave enough to hold
 the snake!
