Firework Fun

In the first chapter of our story, Plop meets a little boy who is collecting sticks to make a bonfire. He cant wait for it to get dark so that the fireworks can start. He says that Plop need not be afraid because dark is exciting!

Today we attempted to write poems about fireworks. For inspiration we listened to sound clips, as well as some YouTube footage of fireworks exploding. We built up a word bank of words to describe the sounds and sights as well as how we feel.
We then took them to the only place where it is pitch dark - behind our stage and lit some sparklers!

We came back to class and in pairs, brain stormed before writing the poem. For a first attempt, they didn't come out too badly.
