In 2006 Ruth Spiro, author and mother founded bubble gum day, she decided that the world needed a day focused around education, philanthropy and best of all bubble gum! Thanks to the parents who sent in dog food for the SPCA.
There is something about keeping the jaw closed and chewing that makes the brain come into focus!
There was so much excitement when we all got to school. The children couldn't wait to chew their gum!
We started off singing the icky, sticky, bubble gum song before it was time to take out the gum. We first used our senses to discuss what we saw, felt, smelt and tasted before we chewed it and then compared what felt and tasted after we had chewed the gum for a while.
There were lots of fun and laughter when we got to see how far we could stretch a piece of gum, how loud we could chew and how well we could low bubbles.
We ended our day with some creative descriptive writing which is up on the back wall on display.
Another fun learning day over - have a wonderful weekend.
Awesome! I want to be in Grade 2!
