National Read Aloud Day

As today was National Read Aloud Day, Mrs Regaud organised a special assembly around this theme. She started by getting a child from each grade, starting from grade 0 up to grade 6 to read a page or two from a book of their choice. Caitlin was the reader from our class. She really read so beautifully.

It was great to see the progression through the grades.

Then it was the turn of a few teachers to read an African folk story to the children.

After assembly Megan and I organised our classes into 4 groups. Each group was allocated a story from our collection of big books. We gave each group 20 minutes to read and prepare the story to present back to the rest of the class.

We were in for a real treat..the children absolutely loved preparing and we just loved listening to the stories.

After second break, we chose the best two groups to  read their stories to the grade ones.

Today really proved that reading is fun!
