A "Sweet" elephant poetry lesson.

Last Friday, Mrs Sweet, our wonderful student teacher, did a poetry lesson with my class. As Pim had met a baby elephant in the next chapter of our book, she decided to do the poems all about elephants.

We had discussed elephants during the week, focusing on words to describe them, so the children were able to come up with some wonderful ideas.

As part of her lesson, Mrs Sweet brought an elephant backbone. What a hit that was, the children were fascinated. They even had turns sitting on it and picking it up.

Once Mrs Sweet had read them some poems the children set to write their own. We were delighted with what they came up with.

It was a most enjoyable, successful lesson.

Each child made an elephant on which they stuck their poem. The classroom is looking really good. Parents do feel free to pop in and have a look.

Nikhil and Angelo with THE back bone!

The classroom display is coming along very nicely!
