We did a blind test on five different types of chips- we first smelt, then looked at the texture, described what it looked like and then lastly tasted the chip to tryand guess the flavour. It is amazing how many different flavours and smells you pick up when you dont know what type or flavour of chip you are eating. To me the chemical and oil flavours and smells were the most prevalent!
Once we had built a word bank of vocabulary we designed our own packet of chips and then wrote our findings on pieces of paper "chips".
Lastly I got each child to recall a memory of eating chips - it was so interesting to hear what they came up with. Chips remind me of....family movie nights, my pool party where we floated on floating chairs and ate our chips, of the view when we went to a game reserve, of travelling on a long journey, of my mom who has to eat nik naks and drink coke to keep her awake on long journeys,
