As the 'ea' in bread is one of the sounds we have been learning about this week, Megan and I decide that it would be fun to make some with our classes.
Each group of 4 had a turn to add the following ingredients into their bowls. They each had a turn to mix and finally, to knead! Kneading was the difficult part for most! I have posted the recipe as so many children wanted to make it again at home. So hopefully moms and dads you will help them to do just that.

Once the dough was made, we placed it outside in the warmth to rise. My class was fascinated and surprised to see how the yeast makes the mixture rise.

this group was way better behaved then they look in all the pictures!! |
After break it was time to make our bread on a stick. The part everyone was waiting for. They were soon to learn a lesson in patience! But the reward of hot fresh bread and syrup was worth the wait.
