Young scientists...Ria, Samaira and Jasmita

I must say, my class is really enjoying the orals this term. There is much excitement as we all wait to see each others experiments. Last Thursday it was the turn of Ria, Samaira and Jasmita.

Rias experiment set out to tell us why the oceans do not freeze.

Ria was very well prepared and clearly showed us
step by step how to set up the experiment.

Making the salt water

Only the normal water froze.

Next was Samaira, she took us to her lab of Pandemonium to show us how to make a rainbow.

Ready for action!

Samaira made different sugar solutions.
Each glass had more sugar than the next.

Stir the sugar until it has dissolved.

Some helping hands to stir in all the sugar.

It was then time to add the colours to each glass.

Even though she had practised, when Samaira tried to make the rainbow the colours merged. It was a good learning curve for us all...not everything always works out. I was so proud of Samaira as she was able to give some thoughts as to why she thought the colours did not layer on top of each other as planned.

Last was Jasmita Albert Einstein Singh! She showed us that even though something appears not to be there, that does not mean it isn't!
Einstein ready to show us how to make
invisible ink.

Adding the lemon juice to the water.

After writing a secret message, the
heat from the candle begins to reveal
it. The class were fascinated!
Well done girls, you did a really good job.
