This term we will be visiting a few countries on our trip around the world. Excitement was building as my class were dying to know where we were off to.
Last week we learnt about the continents, oceans, hemispheres and the equator. We also learnt about how the earth rotates around the sun, to prove this we measured our shadows twice during the day to see how they had moved and changed shape. The children found this most fascinating.
Last Friday we made the world map. Each group of children were responsible for a continent - we then put the continents together to create the most beautiful map that we will plot our journey on as the term progresses.
On Monday, we began our journey, some were convinced that we were really going to go on a real plane!
We lined everyone up, making sure that they had their passports and boarding passes.
We boarded Eden airways, before taking off we had our safety briefing. Then it was off to....Israel.
Before disembarking we learnt a little bit about Israel. As most people are Jewish and cover their heads, we thought that that it was only right to do the same. The boys wore kippahs and the girls covered their heads with scarves.
Getting our passports stamped at immigration.
We look forward to learning lots of new things this week. On Thursday we will be celebrating Israels 70th birthday, the Jewish department has some fun activities planned for the whole school.
