Today it was our turn to do gardening with Jo. She showed us how compost is made - right in our bins. We each got an opportunity to plant some lettuce and look forward to eating it in a few weeks time.

Zebra information
We finished off our week by making little information booklets on Zebras. To help them remember the 6 facts they needed to remember about zebras I taught my class how to write simple keywords.
As we went through the PowerPoint they wrote down the keywords they needed to jog their memories.
After that we wrote and illustrated our booklets. They are now proudly displayed alongside their stories.

As I sat watching my class at work, I could not help but feel so proud of them. They have come such a long ways since the beginning of the term.

How the zebra got its stripes.
To finish off the term we are doing a mini theme on folk tails.
We started this week with the famous story of how the Zebra got his stripes.
Instead of 'normal' black and white zebras we painted 'rainbow' zebras instead. They came out so beautifully.

Today we wrote our on version of the story...how the zebra got his multicolored stripes. I was so impressed with what my class came up with. After some editing we went down to the computer room to type up the completed story. They are proudly up on display on the classroom.

Friday's Big Walk
It was wonderful to see how well supported our big walk was. It was literally a sea of blue wherever you looked. A big thank you to all the parents that turned up to support their children.

Afrikaans fun
To help entrench the new vocabulary in Afrikaans for the book Ek is Neels, we played bingo - the children love playing this game, especially because they get to make their own choices of words.
