Our Librarian Claire Regaud organised a Winnie the Pooh picnic and fun activities for the Junior Primary children. We started the morning by making masks and then headed to the field for a morning of fun.

The children had lots of fun playing different 'Pooh' related activities.

After all the fun and games, the children enjoyed a picnic.

Fun on the beach

We couldn't have asked for more perfect beach conditions! Calm, flat seas and warm, but overcast skies and the beach virtually to ourselves.

To end off the term, we decided to do a number of THRASS and maths beach activities. The grade two's were divided into 5 groups and moved from activity to activity. Like:- counting the number of cups of sand and water that was needed to fill buckets, digging for buried treasure, counting the number of waves you could jump over in five minutes and measuring distances with feet and hands.

Everybody had so much fun, especially the free play where there was time to have a swim, build sandcastles and generally have lots of fun with friends.

What a fantastic outing that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

JP Fun Gala

All the children in the JP had a fun time demonstrating their swimming skills for the fun gala. The weather was lovely and hot and the event was well supported by parents.

Grade 2 authors.

In an effort to promote language and story writing, Gill and I have been doing a number of activities based on different kinds of stories for our Media Center.

Last week we read The Wide Mouthed Frog by Ana Martin LarraƱaga. We discussed the way the story was written, focusing particularly on descriptive words. Each child then wrote their own version of the story using animals from the THRASS chart. We were so happy with the results. The children were too, and  even more excited to be able to read their stories to the younger grades.

Our books are fantastic!

We loved writing our stories.

Our Assembly - all about Hands

I was so proud of my class today. It was our turn to do an assembly for the prep school.  Each child spoke loudly and clearly and remembered all their words.

Welcome to our assembly... it is all about....HANDS!

Syun speaks up loudly and
clearly.
Lusanda shows how easy it is to
balance on your hands.

Purim fun

Today the children of Eden celebrated the Jewish festival of Purim. Purim is held every year, it is when the Jewish people celebrate their deliverance, thousands of years ago, from a massacre by Haman. It is a time of celebration where children dress up, this year the theme was 'Prince and Princesses of Persia'. The children looked good in their outfits.

Beautiful prince and princesses.
Having fun. These expressions
 speak for themselves!

many games on offer.
Once "captain" Rabbi Thurgood had explained the meaning of Purim to the prep school, and everybody had paraded their costumes, each child was given a delicious hamentashen to eat. After this they were treated to a variety of games, organised by the grade 6 pupils.
"Captain" Rabbi Thurgood and
"Princess" Mrs Peens!

The hamentashens are delicious!

Can we eat them now please?

World book day - paired reading

Our children were paired with a grade 5 child to enjoy 20 minutes of paired reading. Both parties enjoyed the experience and it was really great seeing how well the older children related to the younger ones.

World book day - mini number books

On Thursday our grade twos had fun making mini maths booklets. Each child was given a number and on each page of their booklet was a different aspect about this number. They thoroughly enjoyed the exercise.

Maria and Serini get their certificates

Maria was awarded a certificate for achieving full marks for her problem solving in our weekly test. Serini received recognition for her helpfulness in and around the classroom. Well done girls!
